  4.     It may not be possible to be a little bit pregnant, but
  5. citizens of San Francisco can now get a little bit married.
  6. Last week the city's board of supervisors voted unanimously to
  7. adopt a law that officially recognizes the unions of live-in
  8. lovers, whether homosexual or heterosexual. Mayor Art Agnos has
  9. pledged to sign the bill, which permits couples who have agreed
  10. to share basic living expenses to register their "domestic
  11. partnerships" at the county clerk's office in a manner similar
  12. to filing a marriage license.

  14.     Though it has no immediate benefits, supporters see the law
  15. as a possible first step toward fuller legal recognition of
  16. such relationships. The supervisors also urged the city to
  17. consider extending health benefits to the live-in lovers of its
  18. employees.
